The latest thing have been bashing on in my home labs is Hyper V Manager, running many VMs Virtual Machines from a laptop. Just like the name "virtual", for those that dont know, this way you don't have to have any "real" Servers, as they all are make believe in a way LOL. So you can pile them up and run all of them on one device! Definitely cool stuff. This experiment is in monitoring resources ,connecting peripherals and the challenges faced to get things connected, also how stability needs to be monitored, just like a real VM environment, that support everyday, but in my own environment for testing and continued learning.
Also tweaking in my Amazon labs
with Amazon Web Services with Linux and Windows Servers, each day go in
and do some things to stay sharp and stay on the continued learning
curve, as you have to stay ahead in the IT Infrastructure business, if you don't, you are left in the dust! So each year and sometimes each day, need a refresher on new technical trends and as mentioned the ever changing IT landscape out there!
Checking on my Oracle box running Cinnamon Linux for commands with Curl and SSO. And keeping sharp. and while on that subject. Cheese is what need to use to show camera in Linux, very cool so have sharp cheese HA!
VMware lab console on the web , is something dive into when
have time, because like everything else, keeps me sharp on all things
VM, or Virtual Machines. As more and more companies and such are moving to cloud based, rather than having to have their own servers on premises. Such as Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Cloud Services, and many more out there to provide anything you need in a virtual world!
Been working in DevOps with Docker and experimenting with that also.
Also have a Windows Server environment with a domain controller and workstation joined in my home labs. This keeps me sharp and can see about a problem and replicate and find solutions and stay sharp. This is a real world scenario that I support every day, on a senior level, as users have to connect to Servers, remote and on premises, and get to resources, either in a Virtual fake environment, or a real server in a room someplace- at a business or organization,or from their homes while they are working, this enviroment that I am speaking of in my labs helps me stay sharp!
Lets not forget the AI Artificial Intelligence hype ,and all that, and staying up on AI and concepts, as we go full steam ahead into the integration of AI into all things IT.
Brushing
up on new Powershell and Python scripts to help with workflows, and
dive into Microsoft Grafts API, or Application Programming Interface, for all things too. Quite an endless
adventure, and keeping myself sharp and ready for all the challenges
into today's Information Technology world. Being a "jack of all trades" in the IT Infrastructure realm.
